He’s relentless. He’s aggressive. His armor is scarred to hell.

Toth Krag is infamous among bounty hunters. Nobody has ever seen his face and lived to tell the tale. He doesn’t fail. He doesn’t quit. And he doesn’t take prisoners. But maybe he’s getting soft. For once, he showed mercy, and no good deed goes unpunished, so now he’s tracking the deadbeats who run Volant’s Fabulous Spectacle.

She’s casual. She’s spontaneous. She never liked Earth that much anyway.

Yara Duncan is always at the wrong place at the wrong time. That’s how she wound up as the human attraction in a space circus. Frankly, it’s the best gig she’s ever had. Aliens pay to watch her eat and do puzzles, and she gets to see the galaxy free of charge. She’s enjoying the adventure, until the scariest hunter in the universe shows up. For some reason, he thinks she’s in charge, and he’s determined to drag her back to face his employers.

Yara doesn’t run from her problems, and Krag doesn’t know what to do with a human who seems more interested in what he looks like under his armor. This time, the hunter becomes the hunted in the wildly unpredictable game of love…

Sophia Rose’s Review

The scariest bounty hunter in the galaxy encounters his toughest job yet when the odd alien agrees to come along without resistance. In this third and final Galactic Love book, we return to a human-alien romance and it was a fabulous way to finish the series. This was my first time catching the series in audio with a new to me narrator so I was interested to see how that would go.

Incidentally, these stories can all work standalone, though the slight mentions of characters from previous books might be enough for some reader/listeners to need the series in order.

Toth Krag is a bounty hunter legend across the galaxy.  Retrievals often just give up and beg for mercy when he arrives. But, the truth is, he is the 12th Toth Krag working off his indentureship to the Guild and the job has been going sour for some time. Job by job he gets closer to freedom, but what he’ll do with it, he doesn’t know. That said, anything would be better than this lonely existence.
Okay, by anything, he didn’t mean being stuck on his small ship with the little chatty human trailing him about using her verbal wiles on him. And, he really should watch what his ship bot is oversharing with her because suddenly helping the little human out of her own debt troubles and clearing his debt to the Guild sounds like a good plan. But, maybe that was just the translator missing whatever human slang she is using.

Yara Duncan has been keeping it zen a whole lot longer than the night she was stolen from earth by alien pirates and had to figure out how to survive out there among all the bizarre aliens with no proper ID, credits, or a good translator. Her last gig with an alien carnival got her nabbed for the owner’s debts and now she’s got a big mysterious bounty hunter to con into helping her escape her fate. Only Yara figures out what no one else has- Toth Krag. And, she wouldn’t ditch him now even if she could. They have a team to assemble and a heist to carry out.

Scarlett Dorian was easy to listen to as narrator of the story and she had good distinct voices for all the characters even the aliens and bots. So, a motley crew of aliens led by a wily human and a heist with half the galaxy on their tail for the bounty or revenge. Oh the fun times! The tone of this series is light in ways, lots of alien-ness including in the romance, lots of action, some twists, an adorable alien hero (under all that scary armor), and a fun, quirky cast of characters including the bots (love WU-T2). Those who enjoy light and sexy sci-fi romance should definitely give this series a go.

Our Endeavor For Eternal Life

Donald Thomas Author Interview

A Fresh Look At Living Forever looks at the question of evolution vs. creation using both religion and science to support your views in a meaningful way. What inspired you to write this book?

Once I was introduced to the theory of evolution, I was inspired to determine which one was more realistic, creation or evolution. I decided to start with the one I was most familiar with first which is religion. Once I started my research, it didn’t take long for me to realize that I needed to take notes on all the information I was accumulating. Frankly it was too much information to remember. After creating and organizing my personal notes, I soon realized that there is a lot of information about our religion that many people may not know about. Providing this information for interested readers was my inspiration.

What were some ideas that were important for you to share in this book?

One of the most important ideas to me was about who is God and what being the Most High is all about.

Another important idea is the three major concepts that guide us to the will of the Most High and aid us in our endeavor for eternal life as promised by the Most High. A third important point is the misconceptions that reign in our religions.

What is a common misconception you feel people have about creation?

I’m not sure about people’s misconception about creation but I am sure about misconceptions most people have about religion, believers and nonbelievers, which is based on misinterpretations or bogus information. The most common misconception people have is about what happens to us after we die.

What do you hope is one thing readers take away from your book?

Seeking eternal life is a straight forward and simple process and not as burdensome and difficult as most people think.

Lucky’s Halloween

It is Halloween night, and one little black cat has received magical powers on this one night. See black cats become lucky cats on Halloween night and have the ability to appear where needed and help children. Little Lucky spends his night helping lost children, helping replace lost candy, calming an anxious child that is afraid of a dog, and even helping lead a group of lost kids home in the dark. Lucky has a busy night assisting others as the lucky black cat of Halloween.

Lucky’s Halloween, written by Shan Frazier, is an entertaining story that helps dispel the myth that black cats are unlucky. So often, black cats get a bad reputation in America, and Frazier is doing her part to debunk these myths with this wonderful children’s book. The artwork is whimsical and bright, and there are many details that children will love looking at in this picture book.

I really loved everything about this children’s book. The message is positive and informative, teaching children that all animals are unique and not bad luck. The empathy the children show to Lucky, and each other teaches them about friendship and how to treat others.

Lucky’s Halloween, by Shan Frazier, is a beautifully written picture book sharing the magic and wonder of Halloween. It highlights the vital message that black cats are, in fact not bad luck. This is the perfect book for families and classrooms to use around Halloween to spread the message of compassion and kindness.

Finding Your Brand True North

Finding Your Brand True North: How to Lead with Purpose, Direction, and Meaning by Lauren Clemett is a valuable book for new and struggling entrepreneurs, with excellent advice, suggestions, and materials to market your business and achieve success. The author explores how there is more to advertising than what is shown in mainstream media and other platforms. In her book, Lauren Clemett gives readers a handy guide that can work with entrepreneurs of all levels. With three decades of experience in the industry, the author has a wealth of knowledge about branding, marketing, customer relations, and everything you’ll need to grow your business. She covers more than how to start as an entrepreneur but also how to establish a company that can succeed across all areas of marketing and branding, and basically helping position new sole proprietors and business owners to improve their presence in today’s market.

Lauren Clemett arranged the book into six major sections, further broken down into smaller topics, making it easy to read and digest. I loved the introduction, where the author familiarizes the reader with the brand compass. I was specifically interested in the sections inspired by and named after compass directions, as it paints a clear visualization. The book is carefully written, and I found the content resonated with me, with valuable information and topics on how to use your assets, develop a passion, set goals, and achieve the purpose or mission of your company. There is excellent coverage on facing obstacles, rebranding if you need to change directions in your business, and other essential topics for the business-minded individual.

Two main things I like about Clemett’s writing style: she is not overly technical, and she writes to make the reader comprehend easily while tackling several important subjects. She makes it easy for readers to understand various topics by breaking down heavy terminology to give beginning and aspiring entrepreneurs a solid guide they can follow. The author is persuasive in her writing and straightforward in her explanations.

Finding Your Brand True North: How to Lead with Purpose, Direction, and Meaning by Lauren Clemett is a fantastic book with sensible solutions for business owners. Every solution the author offers and the ideas she writes about serves as good advice for life in general. All the chapters and topics in the book are perfectly laid out, with essential discussions on relevant items, from modern trends and brand names to marketing your product on a budget. Let this brand compass by Lauren Clemett guide you!

Hashman

Hashman by Alex Grand and Josh Berman is a gripping graphic novel depicting the high times of Joey Berkowitz. Despite enduring a childhood of abuse, Berkowitz uses his wits and mediation skills to skirt the law and find his calling, moving from a modest neighborhood in Brooklyn as a young Jewish boy to one of the biggest movers and shakers in the city’s drug scene. Based on a true story, Hashman follows Berkowitz through his accounts of early life in the drug culture through the rebellious 60s, 70s, and so on. The book takes the reader through the gritty reality of historic and life-changing events, including cartel shakeups, mob connections, and the struggle for cannabis legalization.

Hashman is a refreshing, exciting read written by two talented authors, Alex Grand, and Josh Berman. The incredible artwork is created by Charbak Dipta and offers a psychedelic, gonzo style that fits the themes. The story gives a sense that all names have been changed to protect or conceal the actual characters on which the book is based. While the writers claim Hashman is both a work of fiction fused with true elements, most of the events cited throughout the story are historically accurate, which offers the perfect blend for a realistic, gripping tale. All these attributes contribute credibility to the real life of Berkowitz and his wild tales.

I thought the book was highly entertaining and a well-narrated account of the intriguing but dangerous world of the mid to late-twentieth-century drug culture. The legalization efforts in Washington and other historical references throughout the book were fascinating and worked well with the raw visuals and excellent storytelling.

Hashman by Alex Grand and Josh Berman is a fantastic book, and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in graphic novels and the world of cannabis culture.
